Veteran actor Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee, famous as the master of horror, died on 7 June 2015 at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. He was 93.
Lee was famous for his role as Count Dracula in a sequence of Hammer Horror films. He also appeared in Lord of the Rings trilogy (as Saruman), the James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun (as Francisco Scaramanga), The Hobbit film trilogy Count Dooku, Stars Wars prequel trilogy Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Jinnah (biopic of Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah), The Wicker Man and others.
The actor was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity. In 2011 and 2013, he was awarded with the BAFTA fellowship and BFI Fellowship, respectively.
