India, Indonesia signed MoUs on Energy, Culture Exchange

These MoUs were signed in the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari and his counterpart Jusuf Kala in Jakarta.

Memorandum of UnderstandingIndia on 2 November 2015 signed two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Indonesia to strengthen it ties in energy and culture exchange area. These MoUs were signed in the presence of Vice President Hamid Ansari and his counterpart Jusuf Kala in Jakarta.

The MoU on New and Renewable Energy sector was signed between Indonesian Water Resources and Mineral Minister and Indian ambassador to Indonesia Gurjit Singh. The MoU will help both nations to take steps in reducing carbon emissions by 2030 by 35 percent in India and 29 percent in Indonesia respectively.

Both the sides also signed a MoU for Cooperation in Cultural field. Indonesia also organised Sahabat India- The Festival of India on its land in 2015.

India and Indonesia already enjoy a long standing shared historical affinity and close cultural ties. Indonesia is an important partner of India among the ASEAN countries.
