Members of parliamentary committee on security on 20 July 2011 reviewed Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. 20 to 25 committee members spent almost six hours at the airport to review customs, immigration, disaster management preparedness and security among other issues.
They came to IGI Airport to review its functioning and also ascertain what is lacking in the system. The committee members had queries on congestion at the airport, behaviour of CISF staff, courtesy and protocol.
The committee members assessed the function of various units of the airport. The committee was asked to prepare a report on functioning of airports across the country. The committee asked the civil aviation ministry and airport management, Delhi International Airport (P) Ltd to suggest measures to bring about changes.
