The central planning commission finalized the annual outlay for Tamil Nadu for financial year 2012-13 at 28000 crore rupees. The allocation was finalized during a meeting held between the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha and the Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia in New Delhi on 4 June 2012.
The current oultlay is nearly 19 per cent higher than the previous year’s figure, as the government had allocated 23535 crore rupees for the state in the fiscal year 2011-12.
The services sector in Tamil Nadu contributed 65.8% of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at 2004-05 prices followed by the Industry sector and the Agriculture sector which accounted for 26.5% and 7.7% respectively during 2011-12. The share of the Agriculture & Industry sectors in Tamil Nadu’s GSDP has been gradually falling over the years, whereas the share of services sector has been rising.
The real per capita income of the state also witnessed a rise at (Compound Annual Growth Rate) CAGR of 9.54% during 2004-05 to 2010-11 while the all-India per capita income rose at CAGR of 6.84% during the corresponding period.
