India won the second cricket test against New Zealand by 5 wickets on 3 September 2012. Chasing a target of 261 set by New Zealand on the fourth day of the second and final Test in Bangalore, India overhauled the target in the post-tea session with one full day remaining. Virat Kohli on 51 and Skipper MS Dhoni on 48 remained not out.
Kohli, who had made 103 in the first innings, was adjudged man of the match, while Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was named man of the series.

With this, India won the 2 match series 2-0. India had won the first test at Hyderabad by an innings and 115 runs.
