Managing Director (MD) of Britannia Industries Vinita Bali on 25 March 2014 announced to retire till the end of March 2014. Britannia Industries is a part of the Wadia Group.
Bali had joined Britannia in January 2005 and took over as company MD in 2006. Vinita Bali became the first woman to head a major consumer goods company in India in 2005.
During her nine-year stint, Bali marked the revenue growth of Britannia to a 1 billion US dollar.
After her retirement Bali would continue to serve on the boards of the other Wadia Group companies like Bombay Dyeing, Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation and Go Airlines
She would also continue to be associated with the Britannia Nutrition Foundation, a social initiative that was started by her.
