Sania Mirza-Martina Hingis won women's doubles title in Wimbledon

With this, Sania became the first Indian women to win a Wimbledon title.

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis, the top-seeded Indo-Swiss pair of Tennis on 11 July 2015 won women’s doubles title at Wimbledon. In the title clash played at Centre Court in London, the Indo-Swiss pair defeated Russian duo of Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina 5-7, 7-6, 7-5.

This is Sania's first-ever women's doubles Grand Slam title, although she has won three mixed doubles titles at the majors. With this title, Sania also became the first Indian women to win a Wimbledon title.

Sania is winner of three mixed doubles Grand Slam trophies. She won Australian Open (2009) and French Open (2012) with compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi and the US Open with Bruno Soares last year. Hingis won the Wimbledon doubles with Helena Sukova in 1996 and Jana Novotna in 1998.

Earlier, the Indo-Swiss pair had won doubles title of BNP Paribas Open on 21 March 2015 and WTA Family Circle Cup doubles title on 12 April 2015.
