Diwali School Holidays 2024: With Diwali right around the corner schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the country along with banks and government offices will remain closed for a major part of next week and the days after Diwali.
This year Diwali will be celebrated on October 31, 2024. Schools will remain closed on this date across the country. While some schools are set to reopen after Diwali on November 1, 2024, it is highly likely that some states will continue school holidays for the days after Diwali considering the significance of celebrations like Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj.
Diwali Holidays 2024 in Southern India
While schools in the southern states will remain closed prominently on October 31 which is Diwali, Tamil Nadu in an official statement has announced November 1, 20024 as a holiday considering the convenience of those travelling back home after Diwali.
For Karnataka, while October 31 will be Diwali, November 1st is celebrated as Karnataka Rajyotsav which is a holiday giving students and the working class a long weekend from October 31 to November 3.

School Holidays 2024 for Northern States
Diwali is celebrated with much pomp and glory in the northern states of India. While Diwali will be celebrated on October 31, school holidays are expected to be announced for the days around Diwali. School authorities will notify students and parents regarding the Diwali vacations.
Schools in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh where Diwali is celebrated will have holidays on October 31, 2024. Schools in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed o October 31, November 2 and November 3, 2024 which is a saturday and sunday.
