NCERT Under Fire as Hindi Medium Class 9 Students Left Without Maths and Science Books
NCERT Textbook Shortage Class 9: NCERT is facing major criticism as Class 9 Hindi medium students are left without core Mathematics and Science textbooks months into the school year. While English books are fully available, the lack of Hindi prints has forced low-income families to rely on hard-to-access digital PDFs or expensive photocopies.
Key Points
- Hindi-medium Math and Science textbooks for Class 9 are out of stock.
- English versions are available, creating disparity for Hindi speakers.
- Shortage delays learning teachers must dictate notes.
NCERT Textbook Shortage Class 9: The NCERT has faced criticism from a number of stakeholders including teachers, parents, and student unions, with the new academic session already here. Despite months passing since the start of the new academic session, the fact remains that the essential texts pertaining to mathematics and science are completely missing for the students of the ninth standard taking up studies in Hindi medium. It can be seen that while enough copies of English versions of the books are available, the Hindi versions are not available and hence students who belong to local dialects are at a loss.
This is what makes many debates rage about the negligence of the authorities regarding resource parity between students of regional languages and those who study in other media. The lack of textbooks is bound to lead to considerable problems as teachers would waste time copying down the entire chapter in blackboard and the unfortunate students would not get even the photocopy or PDF version of the book.
