Matthew Hayden, the Australian Cricketer on 20 September 2012 announced his retirement from all formats of Cricket. He also declared that he is not going to be a part of his team Brisbane Heat in the Australian domestic Twenty 20 series to be held this year.

Matthew Hayden retired from test cricket in the year 1999 and was a part of Chennai Super Kings squad in the Indian Premier League.

1. Highest score of 380 runs made by an Australian batsman in the test match is recorded by his name
2. He was declared to be the ODI Player of the Year in the year 2007
3. With three centuries in super eight’s in 2007 world cup he was declared to be the best batsman of the tournament 
4. He was awarded with honorary citizenship by the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis for scoring a century just in 66 balls against South Africa during 2007 World Cup.  This record was broken by an Irish Batsman, Kevin O'Brien in 2011, World Cup.

Since his debut in 1993 as a part of Australian Cricket team, he played 103 test matches and 161 one-day internationals.
