Bhutan King and Queen will visit India from 6-10 January 2014

King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck will be on a five-day visit to India.

The King and Queen of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Jetsun Pema Wangchuck respectively will pay an official Visit to India from 6-10 January 2014.

During this visit, a delegation of the King of Bhutan includes the Foreign Minister, Home Minister and Economic Affairs Minister. The King has been invited to India by the President, Pranab Mukherjee and will the first foreign Head of the State to be invited to stay at the renovated Dwarka Suite in the Rastrapati Bhawan after about two decades.

As per an official release, during the visit the two will meet with the President of India, Vice President of India, Prime Minister, Chairperson of the UPA, Finance Minister, External Affairs Minister, Home Minister, and Leader of the Opposition.

The unique relations between India and Bhutan are characterized by close friendship, deep understanding and mutual trust. It is predicted that this visit of the King and the Queen will help in strengthening and expanding the close bilateral ties of the two countries.
