Previous England Batsman Mark Ramprakash on 5 July 2012 announced his retirement from cricket after being told by Surrey that he was not figured in the selection plans. He was the most prolific and stylish batsman in the England cricket team.
He scored 13000 runs in limited-over cricket and 35689 runs in 461 first-class matches. He had also played 18 one-day internationals. He topped 1000 runs in 20 separate seasons and three times made more than 2000 in 1995, 2006 and 2007.
He is one in 25 players in the history of the sport who have scored 100 first-class centuries. His last Test was in 2002, but he was pushed to return in the year 2009.
