3 December: International Day of Persons with Disabilities
International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed across the world on 3 December 2015 with the theme Inclusion matters: access and empowerment for people of all abilities.

United Nations estimates say that about one billion people are living with disabilities across the world. They face barriers of inclusion in many key aspects of society.

The sub-themes for the 2015 observance of the International Day are:
• Making cities inclusive and accessible for all
• Improving disability data and statistics
• Including persons with invisible disabilities in society and development

The Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 1992 through resolution 47/3 proclaimed the annual observation of the International Day of Disabled Persons.
