Michael Rogers has been nominated as the Director of National Security Agency by the US president Barack Obama. His name was announced by Defence Secretary of US on 30 January 2014.
Defence Secretary also announced the name of Rick Ledgett as the new Deputy Director of NSA who is at present its Chief Operating Officer.
Vice Admiral Michel Roger will succeed Keith Alexander who served as the Director of NSA for almost nine years. Michel Roger will take the charge as Director of NSA in March 2014.
About Michael Rogers
• Rogers was a trained intelligence cryptologist and has served at top position since 2005.
• Currently Roger is the head of US Fleet Cyber Command, overseeing the navy’s cyber warfare specialist.
• He had over a 30 year career in cryptology and eaves dropping or signals intelligence.
• Rogers also served in the military’s Joint Staff as intelligence director for two years, which is a prestigious Pentagon post.
