The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry on 17 October 2012 escalating the troubles of Reliance India Limited informed the Prime Minister office that it would not approve the investments of the company on its KG-D6 fields. The ministry came to its decision after the company refused to allow the CAG (Comptroller and Auditor General of India) the federal body that would scrutinize spending made by the company during 2008-09 and 2011-2012 in the block.
The Petroleum Secretary, G.C. Chaturvedi at a meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office informed Pulok Chatterjee, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister about the issues related to KG-D6 fields and the production fall in the KG-DWN-98/3 Block by 26 mcmd (million cubic metres per day), which was less than half of the target investments approved by the Government.
