In a long going fight for, who will manage the game of hockey in India, the special committee came up with a decision in favor of Hockey India (HI) on 5 September 2012. The report was submitted to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) by the three-member committee that comprised of, the Indian Weightlifting Federation President Birendra Prasad Baishya, former Wrestling Federation of India President GS Mander and the Handball Federation of India Secretary-general SM Bali with details of the findings in a thousand page draft.

As per the report, Hockey India conforms to the IHF (International Hockey Federation) statute of having 40 percent of woman representative in its Executive Committee. Hockey India also conforms to the IHF norm of having a unified body to run both men’s and women’s competition.
