Tea Board of India Signed a joint Communique with European tea Committee on 17 October 2012.
It was agreed with signing of communiqué that both the oraganisation will cooperate and work together in distributing information about the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) registration and its implications in Germany and other tea consuming countries within the European Union.
Now with the implementation of PGI, tea produced only in Darjeeling can be labelled and sold as Darjeeling Tea within the territory of European Union.
