Why is the 2026 PSEB Biology Model Paper Different?

Following the latest NEP guidelines, the PSEB has shifted toward a more conceptual evaluation:

  • Revised Question Source: For 2026, 25% of the questions will be framed from within the textbook content (Internal Paragraphs), while the remaining 75% will follow the standard exercise questions.

  • Balanced Difficulty: The paper follows a 30-40-30 ratio—30% Easy, 40% Average, and 30% Difficult/Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).

  • Mandatory Diagrams: Section D (Long Answer) now strictly requires diagram/illustrative-based answers for at least two of the three 5-mark questions.

  • New Section Type: Section D also includes a Comprehension-based question (typically from Chapter 12: Ecosystem) to test reading and analytical skills.
