They make it possible for mankind and other living organisms on the planet to survive. Forests are not only a provider of oxygen to the planet, but they are also home to a wide array of flora and fauna. Not to miss, they also preserve the water supply of the world. The most dense forests of the world are home to a wide array of fungi, insects, animals, mosses, and even people.

The most dense forest of the world- The Amazon Basin

 

South America is blessed with the most dense and the largest forest of the world. The Amazon basin stand as a contiguous tropical rain forest which is the most dense one in the entire world. The area of the Amazon basin is over 7,000,000 square kilometers, which actually accounts for 1.2 billion acres. Brazil acquires the most of the jungle. Over 60 percent of the rainforest lies in Peru, and over 13 percent of the forest lies in small proportions in Venezuela, Bolivia, Suriname, French Guiana, Colombia, Guyana, and Ecuador. Interestingly, over one-fifth of the total plants and birds are actually established in the Amazon basin.

 

Congo Basin

 

The next in the list is the Congo Basin, which is the second most-dense and second-largest contiguous rain forest on the planet. The Congo River is actually the second-largest river in Africa. The forest runs through many African countries, namely Zaire, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Congo, and Gabon.

 

Southeast Asia Forests

 

These forests are the most ancient on the planet. They are present on the planet since the time of the Pleistocene Epoch. This means that these planets are over 70 million years old. These forests are spread across Burma, India, the islands of Borneo and Java, and Malaysia.

 

Australian Temperate Forest

 

The Southeast Australian Temperate forests are home to a wide array of vegetation diversity. The forest has a temperate environment and a well-watered area. 

 

Taiga Forest

 

The Taiga forest is spread across Europe, Asia, and Canada. The Taiga biome is actually the vastest biome on Earth. It has severe continental environment.
