The Haryana Government decided to develop Rural Water Policy on 27 June 2012. It aims to prevent wastage of clean water through public open taps and unmetered connections.
The government affirmed that the metered connections would be provided to half of the rural population by the end of Twelve Five Year Plan. In addition, the consumers of all categories have to pay the bill on the basis of volume of the consumption of water.
If in case the meter will not function, the consumer would get it repair within one month at his own cost otherwise he would be penalized. In case, any consumers have unmetered water connections they have to install meters with ISI mark at their own cost.
