National Green Tribunal has directed the state government of Delhi to seize 10-year-old diesel taxis without any delay as they cause air pollution.
The decision was taken by a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar. The bench observed that a large number of diesel taxis are operating in the national capital, which is in violation of the judgment and directions issued by the Supreme Court.
The green tribunal also directed the Environment and Forest Ministry, Road and Transport Ministry, Delhi Government and the state pollution control boards in the National Capital Region to fully coordinate, cooperate and take effective steps to control the pollutants in the air of Delhi NCR.

The tribunal issued the directions after hearing a plea on the worsening air quality in the national capital.
The bench had earlier expressed concern over the alarming rise in pollution level in Delhi-NCR, terming it as an "environmental and health emergency".
