TCS signed in an agreement of 103 crore to provide ICT Solution for MGNREGS in West Bengal

An agreement of Rs 103 crore was signed in between the IT Service firm Tata Consultancy Services and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in West Bengal on 7 September 2012 for providing an end-to-end ICT solution. The tie-up will work for improvement of the e-governance factor in the state of West Bengal. The project will be initiated from the South 24 Parganas district of the state, which further will be extended to the rest of the eighteen districts.

Before this, the TCS and MGNREGS tie-up has been successfully implemented and practiced in 1098 Mandals of 22 districts of Andhra Pradesh. The project there in West Bengal will be of a great help in boosting the 100 days employment scheme with utmost transparency under the modernized platform.  TCS is responsible for providing the support for five years in management and handling of the system after its implementation.

The e-governance system being implemented will help in easy monitoring of the entire process, enrolment, biometric-based authentication, secured disbursement of wages and attendance marking and management at the worksite.
