TikTok, the reigning champion of short-form video content, has set its sights on a new frontier: the world of photo sharing. On April 17, 2024, the company launched "TikTok Notes," a separate app dedicated to sharing photos and captions. This move signals a direct challenge to the dominance of Instagram. 

The company is in the working stages of developing this new platform and is only testing it in two limited zones, which are Australia and Canada. 

The company announced the new app through its Twitter (X) page and states: “We're in the early stages of experimenting with a dedicated space for photo and text content with TikTok Notes. Starting today, TikTok Notes is available for download and limited testing in Australia and Canada.”
