JEE Advanced 2019 exam will not have any age limit for the applicants applying for the engineering entrance test. As per a recent Supreme Court order, the apex court has given interim order to remove the age limit which has been notified in the JEE Advanced 2019 exam notification. The order directs the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the exam to remove the age limit of 25 years and below for the JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019 applicants.
Although the final details are still to be notified by the NTA, initial impressions suggest that following the Supreme Court order, candidates who are 25 years and older will also be eligible to apply and appear for the JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019 engineering entrance exams. Considering that candidates for JEE Advanced 2019 are selected from the ones that appear for the JEE Main 2019 exam, the age barrier will have to be removed for both the exams.
While issuing the order, the apex court also said that the NTA website will remain active for one week to accept applications from aspirants above this age limit to apply for both JEE Main 2019 and JEE Advanced 2019 exams.
As of now, the Supreme Court has only issued interim order which enables candidates to register and appear for the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam. Candidates will have to wait until the final order of the Supreme Court to find out of applicants above 25 years of age are also granted admission to IITs and other engineering colleges on the basis of their JEE Score.
Last year in November 2018, in a similar order, Supreme Court had also allowed candidates above 25 years of age to appear for NEET UG Exam 2019. However, the order added that “their admission will be subject to the final outcome of the case on validity of CBSE decision to fix upper age limit.”
