Bill Clinton, the former President of the United States, addressed the National Convention recently. What shocked everyone was the fact that he did so with trembling hands and a raspy voice. Moreover, he also said that he may not be a part of future Democratic conventions because of his poor health.
He delivered a 27-minute speech. The speech has reflections on his mortality. Moreover, he also expressed support for Tim Walz. The weakened voice was noticed by numerous social media users. Many wondered if he is sick.
What was surprising for the viewers was that they were shocked by the appearance of Clinton. They noticed his slow speech and unsteady demeanour.
Through the speech, Clinton started acknowledging his history with the Democratic conventions. He said, "I want to say this from the bottom of my heart: I have no idea how many more of these I'll be able to come to. I started in '76 and I've been to everyone since- no, '72. Lord. I'm getting old".
He further said humerously that "the only personal vanity I want to assert is I'm still younger than Donald Trump".
There were many more elements in the speech to talk about. He praised President Biden. "I want to thank him for his courage, compassion, class, service, and sacrifice".
'He kept the faith and he's inspired many of us", he added.
Additionally, it is interesting to note that Clinton did not make use of a teleprompter to deliver his speech. He also did not use any notes for the purpose. As per reports, Clinton was not able to put his speech into the teleprompter, all because of the last-minute changes. The teleprompter, however, showed a speech, but it was haltered. This indicated that he deviated from the original speech and had end-moment changes done.
He also talked about Biden's decision to step down from power. He remarked, "he voluntarily gave up political power."
