The Bank of Central African States (BEAC) is a form of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Bank founded to serves six central African countries (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Republic of the Congo). It was established in 1972 with the official name 'Banque des Etats de l'Afrique Centrale (BEAC)'.
Its keys responsibility area is to act as a central bank for six central African Countries to overseeing the monetary system and issuing currency. BEAC's official currency is the Central African CFA franc, which had an exchange rate that was formerly fixed to the French franc but is now fixed to the euro.
