DU to Organise National Conference on Mental Well-Being and Happiness on September 10

Delhi University will host a one day national conference on mental well being and happiness on September 10, 2026. The event is titled Science Meets Social Science: Mental Well Being and Happiness. It will take place at the convention Hall of the Vice Regal Lodge. The Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council or RIEC of the university is organizing the conference. The gathering will bring together academics, researchers and practitioners from many fields. The conference looks at happiness beyond personal concerns. It examines how well being builds a healthy, resilient and progressive society. This matters because stress and anxiety are rising. Young people, students and professionals face heavy academic and workplace pressure. The event will also explore emotional resilience, mental health and social connectedness. The conference will explore evidence based ways to promote individual and collective happiness.
What the Conference will Discuss
The conference will cover six broad themes. The first is the science of Happiness and mental well being. The second is the environment and happiness. The third is mindfulness and mental resilience, Music therapy and well being comes next. Food and happiness is another theme. The final theme is social, relationships, spirituality and well being. The discussions will examine biological psychological social cultural environmental and relational factors. These factors shape happiness and mental well being in many ways. The organizers will support holistic and evidence based approaches. Experts from different disciplines will share their views on these topics. Faculty members, university employees, research scholars and students will attend. Undergraduate and graduate students from DU colleges and departments will take part. Representatives from other academic institutions will join the event.
Who is Leading the Conference
Dinabandhu Sahoo is the chairperson of RIEC. He will serve as the convenor of the conference. Neena Pandey is the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. She will be the co convenor. The university wants to strengthen interdisciplinary research. The goal is to encourage informed inclusive and sustainable approaches. These approaches will help create a healthier and more resilient society.
