Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the convocation ceremony of Visva Bharati University today. The convocation ceremony commenced at 11 AM. According to reports, the Prime Minister will be addressing the convocation ceremony of the university via video conferencing.
The ceremony will also be attended by West Bengal Governor and Rector of Visva Bharati - Jagdeep Dhankar along with Union Minister of State for Education - Sanjay Dhotre and Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal.
The Prime Minister took to his Twitter account to make the announcement. In his announcement on Twitter, the Prime Minister stated that Visva Bharati is a prized centre of learning closely associated with the ideals of Gurudev Tagore. He further added that those who have studied from the university have distinguished themselves in many fields.
The convocation will have a total of 2,535 students who will be receiving their degrees. The convocation will be viewed live by the students and others through the official Twitter handle of the Education Minister and the Prime Minister. The convocation ceremony of the university will also be covered by Doordarshan and can be viewed on television as well.

Founded by Rabindranath Tagore in 1921 Visva Bharati University is one of the oldest central universities in the country. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, Science, and Commerce fields along with professional courses.
Many of the state and central universities have conducted the convocation ceremony for the students for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the online mode. The colleges and universities resorted to conducting the convocation ceremony online due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown.
