If there is anything that has ever been committed to making the lives of humankind effortless, it is science and technology. Science and technology have supported the human race in almost every area of life with its ever-advancing nature. For instance, Pipedream, a logistics firm in the United States has introduced the very first underground autonomous robot delivery system in the world.
Here we explain every bit of information you may be interested to know about the new invention, the underground robot delivery system by Pipedream.
Where was the initiative launched?
It was in the Peachtree Corners where the initiative was launched. Peachtree Corners is popular for being one of the first smart cities in the United States. The city is powered by 5G and has real-world connected infrastructure. The one-of-a-kind project was completed in association with Curiosity Labs in Georgia.
The vision
The aim of the underground logistics solution is to eradicate congestion issues and emissions of the present-day delivery infrastructure.
Through its website, the company says that its underground robot delivery system is going to make the delivery of over 95 percent of consumer products, congestion-less and emission-less through the underground delivery system that is autonomous.

The design
The system carries totes that carry all the payload. These totes are designed in a way that they are able to accommodate about 95 percent of the products ordered at present for delivery and pickup. An interface that carries temperature control, is able to accommodate orders of weights as high as 40 pounds. This portal provides enough space for weekly groceries and more.
The next aspect worthy of discussion is the speed of the autonomous electric robot. The speed of the robot exceeds 40 mph (64 km/h). This speed makes efficient and quick deliveries possible.
The autonomous electric robot makes use of off-the-shelf pipes. These pipes are made to use to construct a conduit for the rail network. There also exist junctions that are constructed in a way that they support efficient 90-degree turns. It is these junctions that boost the navigational abilities of the autonomous robots, as said by the Pipedream website.
