Fortunately, Trump is safe, thanks to the immediate protection by the Secret Service. The assassination attempt was done by a 20-year-old man, named Thomas Matthew Crooks.
While the assassination attempt on Trump was indeed horrifying and unexpected, such assassination attempts on Presidents and former presidents are a common headline in the history of the United States. Yes, the history of the American presidency is not only marked by great moments of triumph but also by several instances of deadly tragedies. There have been many presidents who enjoyed their powers once but had to lose their lives to assassinations. Some, however, fortunately, got escaped.

The former president also contributed greatly to putting an end to slavery.
The nation went into deep mourning because of John Wilkes Booth, as he shot Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre, Washington, D.C. Booth was a Confederate sympathizer.
James A. Garfield
When a discontented office seeker shot the president.
The 20th president of the United States was shot by Charles J. Guiteau. The president had only been in the office for just a few months when the sad incident happened. He was shot at the Potomac Railroad Station, in Washington, D.C. The president managed to survive the initial attack. However, he passed away because of infections caused by his wounds on September 19, 1881.
William McKinley

Leon Czolgosz was an anarchist who assassinated the 25th president of the United States, William McKinley. The president was present at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York in the year 1901 when the incident. The assassination of the president made Theodore Roosevelt take over the presidency.

The 35th president of the United States, John F. Kennedy saw a tragic death through assassination while he was riding in a motorcade. The incident took place in Dallas, Texas. It was Lee Harvey Oswald who was charged with the crime. The death of John F. Kennedy was difficult to digest for the United States and the whole world alike.

Andrew Jackson
The 7th president of the United States experienced an assassination attempt on January 30, 1835. What came as a huge surprise was the fact that the assassination attempt wasn't made by any powerful man with a political career, but rather by an unemployed house painter named Richard Lawrence. Jackson was approached by Lawrence with two pistols. Luckily, both the pistols misfired. The then-president was popular for his fiery temper. During the incident, Jackson attacked Lawrence back with his cane prior to getting restrained. Later, the assassin was discovered to be insane and institutionalized.
Theodore Roosevelt
When the assassination attempt was made on Roosevelt, he wasn't a president of the United States any more. In fact, at the time of the incident, he was actually running as a Progressive Party candidate for a third time. The former president was shot by John Flammang Schrank. Roosevelt was hit by a bullet in the chest. Fortunately, it got slowed by a thick speech manuscript and a glasses case. What astonished the whole country then was the fact that he insisted on delivering his speech rather than seeking medical support first. Fortunately, the man survived the harsh assassination attempt and continued with his campaign.
Franklin D. Roosevelt
The president-elect was attacked by Giuseppe Zangara on February 15, 1933. The assassination attempt took place in Miami, Florida. Multiple shots were fired on Franklin D. Roosevelt by Zangara. While Roosevelt escaped the shots, they actually hit Anton Cermak, the then-Chicago Mayor. Unfortunately, the mayor passed away later due to his serious wounds. Later, Roosevelt moved forward to lead the country through the tragic times of the Great Depression and the Second World War.
Harry S. Truman
The former president was staying at Blair House when the assassination attempt took place. The president managed to narrowly escape the attempt. The attempt to kill the president was made by two Puerto Rican nationalists, named Griselio Torresola and Oscar Collazo. The Secret Service agents and the cops stopped the two attackers. Later, it was found that Torresola was killed in the gunfight, and the other assassin, Collazo was captured and sentenced to life imprisonment.
Gerald Ford
The 38th president of the United States managed to survive a total of two assassination attempts in the very same month. The first assassination attempt on Gerald Ford took place on September 5. It was Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme who tried to shoot the president in Sacramento, California. The assassin was a member of the Mansion Family. Fortunately, her gun misfired. The next assassination attempt could have turned out to be successful if a bystander who not intervened. It was Sara Jane Moore who attempted to assassinate the president in San Francisco, California.
Ronald Reagan
The last one on our list is Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States. The man was hit by John Hinckley Jr. The president was shot and faced serious wounds. The incident took place outside the Washington Hilton Hotel. Immediate medical intervention saved the life of the president. The strong resilience of Reagan garnered him great public support.
Surprisingly, the attacker claimed that the intent behind attacking was to impress actress Jodie Foster.
Donald Trump
The recent assassination attempt made on former president Donald Trump is making headlines. The incident took place on July 13 at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident injured Trump on his ear. While Trump is safe, the incident left two people seriously injured and took the life of one individual. The attempt was made by a 20-year-old.
