The 52nd International Emmy Awards, held in New York, celebrated outstanding television programs from across the globe. Actor-comedian Vir Das took the spotlight as host, marking a milestone as the first Indian to emcee this annual event.
Organised by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the awards honour the best TV shows produced outside the U.S.
This year, 14 categories are in contention, including Drama Series, Comedy, Documentary, and Kids' Programming. Among the highlights is India’s The Night Manager, starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sobhita Dhulipala, nominated in the Drama Series category.

Vir Das, a trailblazing Indian comedian and actor, has been garnering global acclaim for his thought-provoking comedy and unique storytelling. Known for blending humour with social commentary, he has used his platform to amplify emerging Indian talent.
At the 2021 International Emmys, Das spotlighted young designer Pradeep Bhatt by wearing a custom outfit crafted by the NIFT Kangra student, later auctioned for charity.
This commitment to uplifting others mirrors his achievements, such as winning Best Comedian at the 2023 International Emmys for Landing, a Netflix special. Vir Das continues to redefine comedy, bringing Indian narratives to the global stage with brilliance.
