Tamil Nadu School Holiday News: According to the latest updates, schools and colleges in some parts of Tamil Nadu will remain closed due to heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Fengal. Schools and colleges will be closed in Karaikal and Puducherry and also a few parts of Chennai.
With Cyclone Fengal causing very heavy rainfall in several parts, the depression is expected to continue bringing more rain in the coming days. Considering the safety of students authorities have ordered the closure of schools and colleges in several districts.

Schools in certain parts of Bangalore remain closed today due to excessive rainfall. Although alerts have been issued, there is no certainty of schools holidays for tomorrow, December 4, 2024.
TN Schools Closed Today - Dec 3
According to the latest reports, the Cuddalore district collector has announced a school holiday for all schools and colleges today, December 3. The holiday has been announced due to continuous rain and flooding. The decision to declare school holidays comes as the area has been experiencing heavy rainfall and severe weather conditions due to Cyclone Fengal. The Kodagu district administration has also announced the closure of all schools and colleges for today, December 2. A similar order has also been issued in Chengalpattu where schoolls and colleges in given talukas were closed on December 2.
Cyclone Fengal: Puducherry, Tamil Nadu Schools, Colleges Closed Today - December 2
The Puducherry government has declared a holiday for schools and colleges for today, December 2, 2024, due to severe weather conditions. Due to heavy rainfall caused by Cyclone Fengal, all government, government-aided, private schools and colleges in Puducherry will remain closed today, December 2, 2024. School holidays have also been announced for in Vilipuram, Cuddalore, Vellore, and Ranipet districts in Tamil Nadu.
Cyclone Fengal Chennai School Holiday: November 29
As per media reports, the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, and Chennai have announced a holiday for schools, colleges and educational institutions in the region for today, November 29, 2024. Chengalpattu Collector has also announced a holiday for schools considering heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu. The weather is expected to continue the same for the next few days, as per the latest updates.

As per reports, schools will remain closed in Karaikal and Puducherry. Chennai schools however do not have a holiday today. The city is likely to receive heavy rainfall until tomorrow and the IMD has issued a yellow alert and orange alert in parts of coastal Tamil Nadu. Schools in certain parts of Tamil Nadu are also expected to remain closed. Considering the yellow and red alerts issued until November 30, 2024, for a few parts of the state. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an orange alert for Chennai for today, November 27, 2024.
As per reports, schools in Chennai along with districts of Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Tiruvarur have been closed and a holiday has been announced in these regions in view of an orange alert and prediction of very heavy rainfall in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Schools and colleges will remain closed today – November 27, 2024.
Along with the closure of schools, colleges have also announced the postponement of exams. Notifications have been issued by universities regarding the postponement of exams scheduled for November 27, 2024. The revised dates for postponed exams will be announced soon.
Chennai School News: School Holidays on November 26
According to reports, the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert due to extremely heavy rainfall expected in three central districts today, November 26, 2024, and two districts on November 27, 2024. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Chennai from November 27 to 29, 2024. The neighbouring districts of Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet districts have been put on yellow and orange alerts from November 27 to 30, 2024.
According to the weather department, the weather is expected to intensify within 12 hours. There are chances of heavy rainfall over the northern coastal districts for the next four or five days. Districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet may experience heavy rainfall in isolated places on November 28 and 29, 2024.

Considering the weather predictions, schools and colleges in several regions of Tamil Nadu will remain closed due to severe rainfall. Authorities have announced a holiday for schools, and colleges in the districts of Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai and Tiruvarur considering the heavy rainfall prediction.
