Karnataka SSLC Exam 2021: Recently, the Karnataka High Court received a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to cancel the Karnataka Secondary School Leaving Certification (SSLC) exam 2021. The petition objects to the decision of the state government to conduct SSLC exams during the ongoing COVID-19 situation. By explaining how students life are at risk if the exams get conducted, the petition asks for the cancellation of the KSEEB 10th exam 2021. As per the media reports, the PIL cites the example of other boards like CBSE, ICSE and other state boards, and suggests that the state government should consider other options for the evaluation of SSLC students. It even demands to pass all SSLC students, irrespective of anything.
PIL Filed To Cancel Karnataka SSLC Exam 2021
The petition has been filed by S V Singre Gowda. It states that Children are battling with regard to studies online and it is highly impossible to understand the subject in online classes. Further, only some of the institutions might have conducted online classes and in and around Karnataka especially in rural areas there is no such facility, and in some areas not even a single class has been conducted. Therefore, the conducting of examinations for the SSLC in these circumstances is bad and necessary directions need to be issued to the respondents to stop the examinations immediately.
The petition even points out the emotional and psychological suffering children and parents have gone through during COVID-19. It even states that PUC exams have been cancelled in the state. Giving examples of other Boards, the petition cites reasons as to why the Karnataka SSLC Exam 2021 should be cancelled. The plea further suggested a method of evaluation for SSLC students, similar to that of 2nd PUC students, who will be promoted based on their past performance.
