In front of the Special CBI Judge, Bhopal, the Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against the owner of a Delhi based polytechnic and a junior assistant at NIOS Guwahati. The National Institute of Open Schooling, NIOS has conducted the examinations for Class 10 and 12 at the centres namely Sehore, Ratlam and Umaria of Madhya Pradesh. As per the agency, a large number of students, who did not even appear in the examinations, were declared as passed by NIOS. For this purpose, forgery and manipulations were allegedly committed in the attendance sheets and answer sheets of the students. After checking the answer sheets of Secondary and Senior Secondary examinees of the said examination centers, it was observed that the answer copies did not have the NIOS logo.
As per the agency, Ashish Massey, owner of a Delhi based private polytechnic and Manoj Jyoti Borah, a junior assistant at NIOS Guwahati, have been booked for the irregularities in secondary and senior secondary examinations conducted by NIOS. Both accused were earlier arrested and are presently in Judicial Custody. The CBI after registering an FIR had last year raided 26 locations across five states and Delhi that led to the recovery of documents incriminating Borah and Massey. The agency has also accused both Massey and Borah of conspiring to get these students a pass certification in exchange for money that was deposited into Borah's account through a bank account in Delhi.
Investigation has revealed that several unknown officials of NIOS, certain students of Secondary and Higher Secondary classes and unknown private persons allegedly conspired with each other and in pursuance of the said conspiracy, managed to pass the absentee/failed students in the examinations of Class X and XII conducted in April, 2017, by manipulation of official records/answer sheets of NIOS.
