TNEA Rank Calculation and Normalisation Process
The TNEA Rank List 2026 is prepared based on the normalized marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying Class 12 exam. Since students appear under different education boards, the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), follows a normalization process to ensure fairness in ranking. The aggregrate is calculated out of 200 marks, with mathematics carrying 100 and Physics and Chemistry together contributing 100 marks (50 each). If two or more candidates secure normalized marks, the inter-se merit criteria prescribed by the authority are used to determine the final rank.
