List of BET Awards 2025 Winners and Major Highlights

The 2025 BET Awards ceremony, hosted by Kevin Hart in Los Angeles. Kendrick Lamar was the night's biggest winner, taking home four awards including Album of the Year, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, and Video of the Year. The BET Awards 2025 was one of the Culture’s Biggest nights, which delivered powerful performances, unforgettable moments, and well-deserved honours to the artists, athletes, and creatives who are shaping Black excellence today. It was held on June 9 in Los Angeles, the awards ceremony was hosted by none other than Kevin Hart, whose signature humour and energy are most loved among all.

Kendrick Lamar Steals the Show

The biggest winner of the night was Kendrick Lamar, who got honoured with not only one or two but four major awards, including the Album of the Year for GNX, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year for the viral hit Not Like Us, Best Collaboration with SZA for Luther and the Video Director of the Year honours which he shared with his creative partner, Dave Free, showcasing their mastery of visual storytelling.

R&B Powerhouses Take the Crown

Talking about the R&B front, SZA proved her dominance once again by winning Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, while Chris Brown bagged the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award. The award for Best Group went to Future & Metro Boomin, whose joint album delivered chart-topping hits and club anthems throughout the year.

Rising Stars Shine Bright

New talent was celebrated in full force. Leon Thomas, the multi-talented former child actor turned R&B star, was named Best New Artist, while genre-defying rapper Doechii earned the title of Best Female Hip Hop Artist.

Honouring Soul and Spirit

The BET Her Award was awarded to Summer Walker for her soul-stirring track Heart of a Woman. Meanwhile, GloRilla, Kirk Franklin, and Maverick City Music won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for their emotional collaboration Rain Down on Me.

Screen Icons and Young Legends

Veteran actors were also recognised, with Cynthia Erivo winning Best Actress and Denzel Washington receiving Best Actor honours. The Marvin Gaye biopic, Luther: Never Too Much, was declared Best Movie of the year. A standout moment also came on the night when Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, received the YoungStars Award, cementing her rising influence in music, fashion, and pop culture.

Sporting Greats Honoured

In the sports category, Angel Reese took home Sportswoman of the Year, continuing her dominant streak in women’s basketball. NFL quarterback Jalen Hurts was named Sportsman of the Year, applauded for his leadership and impact on and off the field.

Now, as  BET marks 25 years of the BET Awards and 45 years of the entertainment network, this event wasn’t just an awards ceremony but was a tribute to Black culture, resilience, and the stars lighting the path for future generations.
