George Wendt, who played Norm on Cheers, was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 17, 1948. He went to Rockhurst College and then joined a famous comedy group called Second City in Chicago. Lots of great comedians started there. George’s first breakthrough role was Cheers in the year 1982. Before this show, he was only a part of smaller roles in TV shows.
