Jobs in the Public Service Without Recommendations: The Government Awards Merit

The feeling of disappointment, which has long lingered for jobs in the state of Punjab, might finally be turning into hopes and dreams. Under the leadership of none other than Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government has shown that with a clear vision, the outcome would be nothing short of honest. In the last three and a half years alone, more than 1.7 lakh youth have got employment opportunities. One of the key features of this evolution has been the element of transparency. A total of 61,281 government appointments have been made purely on merit. The slogan “no recommendation, no bribe” is no longer just a statement—it is becoming a ground reality. This has restored the trust of millions of youths who had once lost faith in the system.

Employment generation has not been limited to a single department. Recruitments in sectors such as education, health, police, and energy have also improved the quality of public services. Qualified teachers, trained police personnel, and better healthcare staff are directly benefiting the common people. Thousands of appointments in the energy sector have enhanced technical efficiency and service delivery.

One major outcome of this policy is a reduction in brain drain. Youth are no longer forced to go abroad and are instead finding a future within Punjab. Along with this, under the ‘Rozgar Kranti Scheme,’ the government has promoted self-employment by issuing mini-bus permits. This model is not limited to providing jobs—it is laying the foundation for self-reliance and a dignified life. Punjab’s new employment story can become a benchmark for the future.
