The MBBS degree serves as the primary medical qualification, and individuals holding it may pursue further professional education, such as a Master of Medical Science or a Doctor of Medical Science (equivalent to a PhD). The MBBS is a medical undergraduate degree of 5 years of duration. According to the “Medical Council of India,” there are 542 institutes that provide MBBS degree. To get admission to an MBBS course in India, aspirants must clear the NEET UG exam.
MBBS Course Duration
MBBS is a five-year undergraduate medical course. The curriculum is divided into one year of preclinical studies in general science subjects and three and a half years of paraclinical and clinical studies, followed by a one-year clinical internship.
Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Course In India
- NEET clearance is mandatory for all candidates.
- To appear for the NEET exam, the candidates must score at least 50% in their 10+2 papers.
- Students from the Science stream who have studied Biology, Physics, and Chemistry are eligible to apply for the NEET exam.
