Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) AKTU had conducted Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE) on April 29, 2018, for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses. Engineering aspirants were provided with four different sets of question papers namely AA, AB, AC and AD to avoid cheating in the examination. Questions in all the sets were almost similar (except slight modification in the order of questions).
Students preparing for UPSEE 2019 are eagerly searching for the question paper along with the solution. Here, we are providing solution of UPSEE 2018 Physics question paper (Set AA). There were 50 questions in this section. Students will find hints and solution for all the questions asked in the exam.
Engineering aspirants must try to solve last five year’s question papers. Sometimes, 2-3 questions are repeated directly from previous years’ papers in UPSEE. Students can download the unsolved question paper using the link given below:

UPSEE Physics Question Paper 2018
After solving the question paper, students can match their answers with the PDF of the solutions provided at the end of the article.
Some sample questions are given below:
Question:
A stream of non viscous liquid emerges from a very short outlet tube at the base of a large open tank, in which the depth of liquid is h. The tube is at a fixed angle θ to the ground as shown. The maximum height of the stream y is
Hence, the correct option is (A).
Question:
An eagle flies at constant velocity horizontally across the sky, carrying a mouse and releases the mouse while in flight. From the eagle’s perspective, the mouse falls vertically with speed v1. From an observer on the ground’s perspective, the mouse falls at an angle with speed v2. What is the speed of the eagle with respect to the observer on the ground?
Hence, the correct option is (D).
Question:
Which frequency produces a sound that can be heard by a person?
(A) 100 kHz
(B) 40 kHz
(C) 2 kHz
(D) 30 kHz
Solution:
The audible frequency range for us human beings is about 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (20 kHz).
2 kHZ lies between 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
Hence, the correct option is (C).
Question:
Light from the Sun passes through a prism and a spectrum is produced on a screen. A thermometer placed at point X shows a temperature increase. For the given diagram, which type of radiation causes this temperature increase? Select the most appropriate option.
(A) Infra-red Rays
(B) X-rays
(C) Ultraviolet Rays
(D) Visible light
Solution:
The infra-red rays are responsible for the temperature increase.
Hence, the correct option is (A).
Question:
Which of these materials requires the least value of magnetic field strength to magnetize it?
(A) Nickel
(B) Silver
(C) Tungsten
(D) Sodium Chloride
Solution:
Nickel is the material that requires the least value of magnetic field strength to magnetize.
Hence, the correct option is (A).
Question:
The basic idea of MASER was first given by
(A) Max Planck
(B) Einstein
(C) Townes
(D) Fresnel
Solution:
The basic idea of Microwave Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
(MASER) was first given by Townes.
Hence, the correct option is (C).
Question:
If the coefficient of static friction between shoes of a runner and the track is 0.85, the greatest acceleration that can be generated by the runner is (here g gravitational acceleration)
(A) 1.85 g
(B) g
(C) 0.85 g
(D) 0.15 g
Solution:
The maximum force of static friction is μ times the normal force on an object. Here, μ is known as coefficient of static friction.
Hence, the correct option is (C).
