Who is eligible for ASO exam 2026?

For direct recruitment to the posts of Assistant Statistical Officer and Assistant Research Officer (Statistical) in the Service, a candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• A Post-graduate degree in Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Commerce, Economics, or Statistics from a university established by law in India; or any qualification recognized by the Government as equivalent thereto.

• An 'O' Level Diploma in Computer Applications awarded by the DOEACC Society; or a diploma of at least one year's duration in Computer Science from any recognized university or institution.

• Knowledge of Hindi in the Devanagari script.

Preferential Qualification: In cases of direct recruitment, where other things are equal, preference shall be given to a candidate who has-

• Served in the Territorial Army for a minimum period of 02 years; or

• Obtained a 'B' Certificate of the National Cadet Corps.

Age Limit

For direct recruitment, it is mandatory that the candidate must have attained the age of 21 years as of the 1st of July of the calendar year in which the vacancies are advertised, but must not have attained the age of 40 years:

Provided that, in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and such other categories as may be notified by the Government from time to time, the upper age limit shall be higher by such number of years as may be specified.
