Assam is a state situated in northeastern part of India. In 2011, the literacy rate of Assam was estimated to be 73.18% (78.81% male and 67.27% female). The literacy rate of Assam is slightly below the national average of 74.04%.

Assam holds its CEE medical Examination in the Dibrugarh University, which is a state level medical examination.  It provides admission in BDS, BAMS and MBBS courses in various Medical, surgery and Ayurvedic courses.  The medical examination for the year 2014 was held in the month of May and the results are expected by the end of the month. To appear for this exam the candidate must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Assam State. The pass percentage of the candidate in class 12 exams should be an aggregate of 50% for the General and the OBC category. 40% aggregate for SC, ST in subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology should be obtained. Age limit to appear for this exam is 17-21 years for the general candidates and 3 years of relaxation has been given for SC and ST candidates.

Medicine s known as a professional course and having provided a secure future to lot of people in the past years, students are very keen to take up this course and excel in this field. Every year hundreds of students qualify the exam and continue their studies in this field and keep the name of their state high. There can never be a recession in the profession of medicine as doctor’s deal with the health of people and people because of unhealthy life style and the environment tend to fall sick.
