Hackathon

The Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering celebrated Hackathon HACK@BVP 2.0 recently. In the event, more than 200 teams participated out of which 22 teams were selected. The participants of the team then came together to build functioning mobile apps that tackle environmental and social issues. The teams who were selected manifested their ideas to five judges: Mr. Ashok Yadav, Mrs. Dolly Bhasin, Mr. Varun Hasija, Mr. Vikas Kumar Tiwari and Mr. Rajesh.

Team Arjuna, was awarded the first prize and their project name was UMEED. The team came up with the smart procedure of using Machine Learning Algorithms to distribute the funds collected in a transparent and authentic way possible using Blockchain. The unique solution of the team Arjuna grabbed the attention because the system with enables the governing body to do a corruption free practices as the entire blockchain will be notified when a transaction takes place between any two blocks of the blockchain. And because of Machine Learning algorithms, complete funds will be redirected to the identified clusters in a smart and optimized way. They implemented their whole system.

The Suraksha app also managed to grab the attention of the people. The application works to make sure that a woman is safe at any place, at any time. Developed by Bellatrix, which was an all-girls team from IGDTU, the Suraksha app constitutes many interesting features such as data analysis to predict how safe a woman is at an unknown place, scream alarm, scrutinizing the unknown place, alert Emergency Contact in time of need.

Their team was awarded the best all-girl team and was provided incentives by our respected judge Mrs. Dolly Bhasin for the future perspective of the app. The winning team was awarded a sum of Rs. 10000, followed up by Rs. 7000, Rs. 4000 and Rs. 2000 respectively for the second, third and fourth positions.

The entire event was organised by the CSE Department of Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering. A team of 18 students along with teachers working under the able guidance of the HOD of CSE Department and the convener Mrs. Narina Thakur and with constant support from the principal of the institution, Prof.(Dr.) Dharmendar Saini, made the event a huge success.
