UGC launches helpline number and email id for students to lodge grievances

UGC has launched a helpline number and mail id for the students and teachers to lodge grievances if any during the COVID-19 lockdown. Check the complete details here.

UGC launches helpline number for students

UGC Launched Helpline Number: The UGC had earlier released the guidelines and academic calendar for the universities. Along with these, the UGC has also established a cell for handling the grievances of the students during the lockdown period. The helpline number and the email ID for the students have been launched by the University Grants Commission wherein students can lodge their grievances related to the examinations and other academic activities coming up due to the  COVID-19 lockdown. 

According to the official notification, the students can also lodge their grievances on the existing online students' Grievances Redressal Portal of the UGC. The details regarding the grievance cell were shared by the UGC in a tweet which stated that the commission has issued the Public Notice for Redressal of Grievances related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The helpline number has also been provided in the tweet. The helpline number for the grievance redressal for the students is 011-23236274 while the email id is covid19help.ugc@gmail.com.

Aim of UGC Grievance Redressal Portal

The UGC Grievance Redressal cell will be monitoring all the queries, grievances, and other academic matters of the students, teachers, and institutions arising due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the grievance redressal, the UGC has also formed a Task Force in order to monitor the concerns, grievances of the students, teachers, and the institutions and solve the same accordingly. 

The universities and colleges have also been asked to upload a copy of the public notification from the UGC on their official website and share the same with the students and teachers via email or any other format. 

UGC Academic Calendar

According to the UGC academic calendar released, the UGC has stated that the university examinations will begin in July 2020 and the admissions will be conducted from August 2020. As per the guidelines, the Classes for the enrolled students will begin from August 1, 2020, while the classes for the new students will begin from September 1, 2020.
