UP Board Exam 2020: As per the latest directive issued by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP), the UP Board will exclude any schools with high tension wires running over them from being designated as the examination centre for upcoming board exams. Specific instructions in this regards have been issued to the District Inspectors of Schools (DIOSs) across the state. The decision has also been made part of the board’s official centre-fixation policy for exams-2020.
Decision in wake of Recent Accident
The decision to exclude schools with high tension wires running over them comes in the wake of a recent accident at school in Balrampur district. In July, around 55 school students were injured seriously, some of them even with serious burn injuries, after a high-tension wire fell on a school in state’s Balrampur district. On 11th July, a 1,000 KV high-tension wire fell on Vishnupur Government Primary School premises which are located in Utraula. Taking cognizance of this tragegy, the board has decided not to allow any exam centres in schools with high-tension wires running overhead.
School Inspection Ordered
Following the incident, the UP Board has also ordered inspection and audit of all the schools to make sure that the school infrastructure is ready to handle any such incident in future. As part of the inspection and audit process, all district and divisional level education department officials were ordered to identify schools which have high-tension wires passing over them or having transformers installed inside or near the schools. Later on, such schools will be asked to make changes to their infrastructure to such high intensity electrical setups outside and away from school premises.

According to the exam datesheet, UP Board Exam 2020 for Class 10 and Class 12 students will commence from 18th February 2020 onwards. As part of the preparations for UP Board Exam 2020, UPMSP is expected to release the list of examination centres for UP Board Exams by 9th November 2019 – Saturday.
