
WB Schools Closed: The Government of West Bengal released an official notice on December 1, 2022, regarding the winter vacation for all educational institutions along with government offices. The schools, colleges and government offices are closed today December 26, 2022.
The chief minister of the West Bengal state, Mamata Banerjee made a public announcement that schools, colleges and government offices across the state will remain closed today.
Moreover, the chief minister stated that the offices of the Registrar of Assurance in Kolkata as well as the Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata are not scheduled to be closed today on account of the public holiday announced in the state.
Public Holiday by WB Government
The notice by West Bengal CM mentions that in accordance with Department Notification Number 3640-F (P2) dated November 26, 2021, the West Bengal State Governor is delighted to declare December 26, 2022 (Monday) as a public holiday.
The decision was taken after Christmas Day for the West Bengal government offices, statutory bodies, local bodies, official boards, corporations and undertakings controlled or regulated by the State Government.
Also, the educational institutions in West Bengal including all schools and colleges or other offices/ institutions that are owned or controlled under the state government are also applicable for the holiday that is declared today, according to the state government notice.
Exceptions by WB Government
All educational organisations and state offices are granted a holiday on December 26 with a few exceptions. The notice by West Bengal Government stated that the offices of the Registrar of Assurances and the Collector of Stump Revenue in Kolkata state have not been given a holiday which implies they are considered exemptions in this case.
The dates for winter vacation have not been decided yet and have also not been announced by the government for all school and college students. The schools are shut down and do not operate for about a week owing to the cold weather conditions every year.
Last month, the government of Jammu and Kashmir state released a notice stating school holidays that commenced on December 1, 2022, and is likely to conclude in the month of February 2023. The vacations will continue for up to three months.
