BPSC Exam Pattern 2024: Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the notification of 70 Combined Competitive Examination (CCE), which is responsible for recruitment of eligible candidates for Group A services in Bihar State, such as Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Commander, Prison, and Correctional Services Inspector, etc.

BPSC Exam Pattern 2024

The BPSC CCE exam format comprises three stages of selection: preliminary, main, and interview. The preliminary test is an objective-type exam that covers syllabus of general studies and includes topics such as Indian history, politics, geography, and economics, whereas the mains exam is a descriptive paper. There will be 5 papers in mains examination and all papers are compulsory to be attempted by candidates. 

  • The 70th BPSC Prelims Exam will have 150 questions for a total of 150 marks, with 1 mark awarded for each correct answer and 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer.
  • The 70th BPSC Mains Exam will have a total of 5 total papers, i.e., GS I, GS II, Essay, General Hindi, and Optional Paper.

BPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

The BPSC Prelims exam will be an objective-type paper in which 150 general studies questions will be asked, which contains topics such as history, polity, economics, geography, general aptitude, etc.

  • Each question will contain 1 mark.
  • 0.25 marks will be deducted as a penalty for marking the wrong answer. 
  • The prelims examination will be qualifying in nature.

BPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2024

Starting this year, the Commission updated the BPSC Mains Exam Pattern. Previously, only four papers were included in the BPSC exam: General Hindi, General Studies Paper I and II, and Optional Paper; however, essay papers will now be added in the BPSC Mains Exam Pattern. The commission adopted this modification to address the issue of scaling/normalisation of the optional paper in the main test. So, from now on, the BPSC Mains examination schedule will have five exams, with the Optional Paper and General Hindi Paper qualifying. When filling out their application form, candidates can choose any topic from a list of 34 disciplines as an optional paper.

BPSC CCE Interview

The personality test or interview will be conducted of candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in the mains examination. 

  • The total marks of the interview will be 120.
  • In the interview, candidates will be judged on their character, personality and knowledge of Bihar and India in terms of history, Geography and cultures.
