Eligiblity Criteria for BPSC

The minimum educational qualification required for the BPSC examination is a graduation degree from any recognised university. Other than the required educational qualification, the candidate should be a minimum of 20 years old; the maximum age for unreserved category candidates is 40 years. However, relaxation in age will be reserved for category candidates. Check the table below for category-wise age relaxation.

BPSC Syllabus and Exam Pattern

BPSC conducts the CCE examination in pen and paper mode. Interested candidates must be well acquainted with the BPSC syllabus and BPSC exam pattern. The latest syllabus is divided into subjects such as events of national and international importance, history of Bihar and Indian history, geography (mainly geography of Bihar), Indian Polity and economy, changes in the economy of Bihar post-independence, Indian national movement and the role of Bihar, general mental ability, etc. The selection procedure for BPSC is listed below.

Prelims Exam: The preliminary syllabus covers general knowledge and current affairs. Subjects like Indian history, politics, geography, and economics are important from an exam point of view.

Mains: The Mains exam is a descriptive paper that tests the candidates on their understanding and expression of various topics. Regularly practicing answer writing to frame answers clearly and concisely helps candidates score better. The mains examination needs emphasis on sections such as Indian polity, economy, and optional subjects.

Interview: The selected candidates of the mains examination will be called for the interview, which will carry 120 marks of total score.
