India Post GDS Eligibility: The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts, released the India Post GDS Eligibility along with the detailed notification on July 15, 2024. To be eligible for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), Branch Post Masters (BPM), and Assistant Branch Post Masters (ABPM), candidates must be between 18 to 40 years old and have cleared class 10th.
It is mandatory to meet the India Post GDS age limit and other criteria before applying for the post. Failure to do so can result in the cancellation of candidature. Age relaxation on the upper age limit is available for reserved categories except for the EWS category. The Ministry of Communications, Department of Posts has invited applications from eligible candidates to fill the 44228 vacant posts of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs) [i.e, Branch Postmaster (BPM)/Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevaks] in different offices of the Department of Posts. The apply online link will remain active from July 15 to August 5, 2024.
Any 10th pass candidates whose age is 18 years or above can apply for the India Post GDS 2024 recruitment process. However, they must ensure that they must not exceed the upper age limit to avoid cancellation of their candidature.

The India Post GDS Age Limit is the first and foremost important factor of the eligibility criteria. The age of the candidates will be calculated as on the last date of submission of applications. India Post GDS Age Relaxation

India Post GDS Eligibility: What are the Gramin Dak Sevak Qualifications?
The next crucial parameter of the India Post GDS Eligibility is educational qualification. According to the official notification, the minimum requirement is a 10th pass or equivalent from any recognized board. Here is the India Post GDS educational qualification for all the posts elaborated below.
- Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India.
- Must have studied the local language at least up to 10th Standard from a recognized board.
- Aspirants must know computers, cycling and an adequate means of livelihood.
Branch Post Master Qualifications
Candidates applying for Branch Post Master must have cleared class 10th from the recognised board. Failing to meet this criterion will lead to the cancellation of the candidature.
India Post GDS Eligibility 2024: Nationality
Apart from knowing the India Post GDS Eligibility, candidates must be well aware of their nationality before applying for the post. A candidate must be a citizen of India when applying for the post.
Gramin Dak Sevak Eligibility: Reservation
- Candidates who are willing to avail of reservation benefits available for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PwBD/ EWS must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation as per India Post GDS eligibility prescribed in this official notification. They should also have a valid certificate in the prescribed format to support their claim.
- Those who wish to be considered for reserved vacancies or want age relaxation will have to submit the required certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format at the time of scrutiny of documents.
- There will be no relaxation in the upper age limit for EWS applicants. However, the EWS category candidates who are not covered under the reservation scheme for SC, ST and OBC shall get a 10% reservation in engagement to the GDS post.

Candidates having only benchmark physical disability will be considered as PwBD and will be eligible for age-relaxation/ reservation for Persons with Disabilities. The permissible disability for PwD candidates is as follows.
