Minister for Excise and BC Welfare Mr. K Ravindra on the occasion of World Fisheries Day made the announcement that Andhra Pradesh would soon get its first Marine University so that it could promote studies in interdisciplinary education in marine sciences and Fisheries.
On the occasion of World Fisheries Day, K. Ravindra pointed out to the Marine exports which currently stands at whooping Rs. 17, 000 crore alone in Andhra Pradesh. The goal of the government is to keep pushing this limit and take it to a new height of Rs. 75,000 crores. The central government is also looking into the betterment of the fishermen in the Andhra Pradesh region.
The occasion saw some futuristic development measures that are to be taken to improve the quality of fishermen lives. The decision to initiate a Marine University would take fishery to an all new level with education and interest both could now get generated for the fishing business in the southern region of the country. The occasion saw members from Fisheries Department Officials and Fishermen Co-operative Society.
